Who We Are
Ger hayiti b’eretz nochriya I was a stranger in a strange land.“Welcoming the stranger” is our privilege. Faced with one of the largest refugee crises in Afghanistan in August 2021, Austin Jews & Partners for Refugees (AJPR) was formed to provide volunteer assistance to over 1000 refugees settling in the Austin area. AJPR has continued to provide assistance to refugee families over the last year in partnership with Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society HIAS).To strengthen its volunteer support, AJPR is now teaming up with Shalom Austin in volunteer coordination. This collaboration will further AJPR's goal to provide a human connection to assist refugee families to become self-sufficient and make a new home in the Austin community.
